State of the Disunion Address

My fellow Umerica fans! I’ve got several bits of information about Crawling Under a Broken Moon to pass on and a request for assistance so here we go...

Back issues and the CUaBM compendium - I have decided that when Issues #1 through #4 run out, I will not be reprinting them again. Instead I will compile them into the first CUaBM compendium that will be available on RPGNOW / DriveThruRPG as POD and PDF. For those who have the original zine versions, there will be updated and new supplementary content in addition to the old stuff. I will try to work out a discount code for subscribers and long time fans.

CUaBM on Purple Sorcerer - I am currently getting help with adding CUaBM 0 level info to Jon Marr’s excellent generator. As soon as it is ready I will let everybody know. Frankly, I am hoping it is soon so I can use it for cons. :)

Mutant Crawl Classics RPG Compatibility - Many people have asked if CUaBM will be supporting Goodman Games new Mutant Crawl Classics RPG due out soon. I’ve spoken with the Dark Master and there will not be any official compatibility licensing for the Mutant Crawl Classics RPG as there is with Dungeon Crawl Classics RPG. Since Mutant Crawl Classics has been reported to be fully compatible with Dungeon Crawl Classics, I would say that you will most likely be able to use the CUaBM materials with it as well. This is just my hopeful opinion and not based on fact as I have not seen any of the Mutant Crawl Classics content yet.

The future beyond Issue #12 - Last year I released a statement about my vision for CUaBM in 2015. I am happy to say that the plan is going along nicely. Now that the year is more than half over, I am casting my inner eye towards 2016 and my mental cupboards are a bit bare. I’ve got ideas for issues #11 & #12 but beyond that I am currently out of significant inspiration. :(

So I ask you, the loyal fanbase of CUaBM, to let me know what you would like to see next. Please send your suggestions to: crawlingunderabrokenmoon@gmail.com. If you have an idea for an article or two that you would like to write, I’d love to hear about it. As ideas roll in, I will most likely post a few polls as well to see what everyone's opinion is.

As always, please contact me if you have any questions or concerns,
Reid

Pricing questions

This is a question mainly aimed at those who have been purchasing my zine but I welcome everyones thoughts on this. Due to an increase in printing costs I am considering increasing the cost of CUaBM. In addition, starting with Issue #8 the zine will generally be 28 pages instead of 24 which also increases production costs. The new price I am considering is $4.50 local and $6.00 international per issue. As always, the price includes Print, PDF, & Postage. All current subscribers would still get their allotment of issues at the original price but new subscribers would pay the higher rate of $27 local and $36 international.

I've been pondering on this for over a month so I thought I would ask  all of you how you felt about it. Please comment here or on G+ so I can make a good decision about this.

While we are on the subject of prices: PDF only purchasers, do you think the $2.99 price for each PDF is too high?

Lastly, I've been considering making a Year One compilation book containing all of the articles from issues #1-#6, reordered in a soft-cover source book style format, as a POD book from RPGNOW/Drivethru. Depending on the timetable I might even update old articles and add a bit of new material. Would anyone be interested in that?

Thank you in advance for all of your feedback!

UX01 has been released into the wilds!

I dropped a load of envelopes off at the post office this morning and everyone who ordered a print copy of UX01: High Caliber Hijinks should be getting their copy soon!

Sorry again for the delay but all of the kinks with the print shop should be worked out now so this will not happen again.

Reviews and feedback are most welcome!

The print run of UX01: High Caliber Hijinks is ALMOST done, sigh.

For those waiting for the print copy of Umerican Extras 01: High Caliber Hijinks, I apologize for the delay. I switched to a new print shop as my old one kept having issues with every print run. I went to pick up the print job this morning and it was messed up. Sometimes I wonder if my zine is slightly cursed by a Bindery Hag or other imaginary printing based beast, sigh.

They are redoing the entire job. Assuming it comes out OK, I'll be mailing these out by the weekend. Sorry again for the wait. I hope you are enjoying the PDF. Any reviews would be welcome.

Issue #6 just got its first review!

Over at RPGNOW.com  Daniel B. just added a review to their 5 star rating for Crawling Under A Broken Moon fanzine issue #6
Best issue yet.
DCC meets Car Wars in the wasteland roadways of post-Apocalyptic Umerica. Evocative but simple rules for vehicles, chases, and vehicular combat. A class that definitely fits the setting well, and feels unique rather than tacked-on. Gang generator. 100 Road-side encounters from the excellent blog Elfmaids & Octopi. A perfect new monster with a built-in reason for the PCs to go looking for it.
This issue makes me want to write an adventure just to play with the new toys. It's that good.
Get it.

Wanted: Proof-Reader

Greetings all,

One of the major hold ups for issue #6 is the fact the my primary proof-reader, Jason Bossert, can no longer devote the time he previously did to the zine. I am hoping to get some new proof-readering help for Crawling Under a Broken Moon so the publishing schedule does not slip any further.

What I am looking for is someone to go over the rough draft on GoogleDocs to catch grammatical errors, illogical statements, and basic rules errors. Since fanzines are not exactly cash cows, the only compensation I can offer is the same as I offer writers and artists, a print copy and PDF copy of the issue. If you wish to donate your time and efforts to make Umerica beautiful, please comment here or send an email to crawlingunderabrokenmoon@gmail.com.

Thanks,
Reid "Reidzilla" San Filippo
